About
I have had a passion for photography for most of my life. My uncle, a nationally recognized photographer, gave me an old camera as a boy, from which I learned the basics of light and exposure. I found great joy in the creative process – from framing the shot, developing the film, to finally seeing the image come to life in the darkroom. In college I gained much experience as a photographer and photography editor for the newspaper. Despite a love for photography, my career goals led me down another path. I pursued a career in medicine and now work as a pediatrician / neonatology fellow at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Throughout my rigorous training, photography has been my creative outlet. My job brings me great satisfaction and has changed the way I view the world, especially through my lens. Life is a precious thing, and I enjoy the challenge of capturing its beauty, whether as seen in a beautiful landscape, or in the eyes of a newborn child.
While this site primarily serves as a means to share my interest in photography, I’m certain I’ll talk about other things as well so check back frequently. I do offer commercial photography services, from portraits and weddings to commercial & real-estate photography. In addition to the entries I post in this blog I encourage you to visit my photo gallery to see more of my work.
